Brianna Ewert

Bri doesn't remember her expectations for the first yoga class she attended in 2001, but she remember clearly the actual experience. Ostensibly, the class was focused on hip-openers but that class opened a lot more than Bri's hips. She left the class in awe and has been hooked on yoga ever since. After studying with several teachers and practicing a range of styles from Ashtanga and Baptiste Power Yoga to Yin and Restorative, she found my yoga home with Anusara at Betsey Downing's Garden of the Heart Yoga Studio. She delved deeply into the study of asana, pranayama, philosophy, anatomy, therapeutics, and Sanskrit through a year-long Immersion Program and then a year-long Teacher Training, studying primarily with

John Friend, Betsey Downing, Jaye Martin and Douglas Brooks.
In teaching yoga, Bri's draw on the same philosophy she cultivated as an elementary and middle school teacher: that she is there to help students discover their great inner strength and unique talents. She strives to meet each student where they are and provide modifications, adjustments, and assists—or further challenge—as needed. Asanas are sequenced progressively to help all students advance their practice, and pranayama and meditation are included when fitting. Classes are playful and welcoming to all students, with just enough focus on alignment to keep students safe or heal injuries and just enough joyful, light-hearted philosophy to open everyone's hearts. Classes are based on a philosophy of intrinsic goodness, and Bri's goal is that every student leaves feeling empowered and delighted. Bri continues to learn from every one of her students and teachers and is grateful to all of them.

What to Expect Attending Brianna's Classes

Each class will work progressively toward a pinnacle pose, and the focus will vary week to week to include twists, hip openers, backbends, and forward bends, with a balance of increasing strength and flexibility. This class is appropriate for all levels of yoga practitioners, as it will include some basic alignment and modifications to adjust the level of challenge up or down. Classes may introduce basic inversions and hand balances and may incorporate breath work (pranayama) as well.
